Joint Crediting Mechanism

The Joint Credit Mechanism is a bilateral carbon market mechanism involving Japan and a host country. It seeks to facilitate transfer of low carbon technologies and implementation of mitigation actions that enables developing countries to achieve sustainable development. The Philippines is one of the participating host countries of the JCM. A bilateral agreement was signed by the Philippines and Japan last 12 January 2017. The First Joint Committee was held last 09 February 2018, where one of the agenda items is to discuss priority sectors to be covered under the JCM.
